We celebrate the 100th dog adopted from Bath Cats and Dogs Home in 2023!
Freya is an eight-year-old Boxer who came to us in March, and after some careful research and matching by our Rehoming Team she has now been happily rehomed with experienced dog owners, Gerald and Ivy. She is the 100th dog to be adopted from Bath Cats and Dogs Home in 2023!
Gerald and Ivy know Bath Cats and Dogs Home very well and remember coming to visit us in the early days before the main building was added in 2000. Over the years these dedicated adopters have rehomed an incredible ten dogs from Bath Cats and Dogs Home so Freya is not only the 100th dog adopted from us but also the 10th dog adopted by Gerald and Ivy.
In the past the family have adopted a variety of larger dog breeds from the Home, such as, a German Shepherd, a Rottweiler, a Border Collie, and a Doberman and sometimes they even adopted two dogs at a time. In previous years they have also helped with our fundraising by bringing hand made cards and jewellery for us to sell in our charity shops.

We enjoyed 13 adoptions including Freya, and 3 lost animals were reunited with their families.

We are always looking for more people to adopt our cats and dogs and as I’m sure Gerald and Ivy would agree, getting a rescue dog from Bath Cats and Dogs Home is very rewarding. It also offers a number of benefits over going to an unknown private breeder, for example, we can tell you more information about the dog before you take them into your home as we’ll be honest about their quirks, explain any behaviour training that needs to be continued and give you lots of support on your adoption journey.
All of our animals are neutered and have had a vet check-up for common health issues. Many have also dental treatment at the Home which can be expensive for pet owners. All adopted animals are also microchipped and have had flea and worming medication so there are several cost benefits to adopting from the Home as well as the feel-good factor of giving a happy home to a rescue animal in need of a loving new family.
